In a joint venture with AMB Property Management, Campanelli’s greatest concern with the redevelopment of this Former Boston Edison Facility was major environmental challenges.
A significant clean-up was required of this brown field as the location had contaminants dating back to rubber production during World War II and PCB’s from the Boston Edison Facility itself. Contaminated soil, building debris and 13 underground naphthalene tanks from the 1920’s were removed from the site.
The site was to be converted into three of the most high-tech buildings
in the history of Campanelli, once the exhaustive clean-up effort
was completed.
