Preferred Freezer Services Adds Fifth Facility in Massachusetts

Preferred Freezer Services (PFS), a global leader in advanced design and engineered temperature-controlled warehouses, announces the newest addition to its continually expanding footprint in Avon, Massachusetts. The cold storage specialist has worked through a joint venture with HN Gorin and Campanelli to convert what was once the industries most advanced warehouse in 1986 to like-new high standards PFS customers have come to expect. Upon completion, the Avon facility will be the company’s fifth cold storage facility in Massachusetts and the thirty-first worldwide.th, 2012 with an Open House Celebration to follow in October.

PFS is investing in modernization upgrades to the refrigeration system, racking equipment, roofing, adding six high-speed Rytec doors to the Freezer and is installing a hi-efficiency white reflective roof membrane at this 150,000 sq. ft. facility. The existing hydraulic dock plates for the 24 exterior dock doors will be replaced with state-of-the-art airbag dock levelers.

“Our existing and new customer demand in the Boston area for additional cold storage space has continued to grow over the last three years and we are thrilled to finally be able to meet those requests,” said John Galiher, President and Chief Executive Officer, Preferred Freezer Services.

Dan DeMarco, Partner of Campanelli added, “Campanelli has built over 2 million square feet of cold storage facilities for Preferred Freezer Services which includes 13 facilities in seven markets from Texas to Florida and up the East Coast. We are delighted to be a part of their expansion through energy efficient construction and are looking forward to implementing state-of-the-industry technology in many more Preferred Freezer facilities to come.

In addition, the environmental-friendly facility will also be retrofitted with LED lighting, a new back-up generator, CCTV Security System, Wi-Fi warehouse management systems. The lot will be resurfaced and the landscaping upgraded enhanced to enhance the aesthetics of the facility.
